Classical, in the
original order

The classical method

Pilates the way Joe wrote it.

A boutique classical Pilates studio in Albuquerque, NM, rooted in the original work of Joseph Pilates. This isn't a watered-down group burn. It's Contrology — the precise, full-body practice Joseph Pilates designed to build control, breath, and balance.

01

Classical, the way it was written

Every session honors Joseph Pilates' original method, Contrology — the precise order, breath, and apparatus he designed to build a strong, supple, balanced body.

02

The full apparatus

Reformer, Cadillac, the barrels and the mat — each piece teaches your body something the others can't. You'll learn to move with control, not momentum.

03

Movement with awareness

Luz pairs classical Pilates with the Alexander Technique, so you leave not just stronger, but more aware of how you carry, breathe, and stand all day long.

Classical Pilates training in NYC · a dancer's eye for alignment

Meet your instructor

Hi, I'm Luz.

I'm the founder and head instructor at La Luz Body Align. For more than a decade I've taught Pilates the classical way, with training in New York City and a background as a dancer — which is where my eye for the smallest details of alignment comes from.

I pair the original method with the Alexander Technique, so you don't just get stronger — you learn how to carry, breathe, and stand with more ease all day. I work with every body: chronic pain, hyper-mobility, injury recovery, and folks who simply want to move better.

"Best. Ever! I have taken Pilates for about 20 years, mostly in the LA metro. I have had some excellent instructors. Luz tops them all. She has deep knowledge of correct form and broad training in movement that she incorporates into my sessions."
